This is to announce there is a new healthcare coalition (now alliance) forming for those dealing with kidney disease. I've been asked to be on the board. Right now we aiming to bring everything together in January. I'll post more as it becomes available.
-
We have been let down by government, the renal networks, and of course the dialysis companies - no accountability and no sanctions. Those dealing with kidney disease face a lot of problems, they don't need to also be dealing with a system that many times doesn't have their best interests in mind: Larry Hall's dismissal and other stories (http://www.propublica.org/article/in-dialysis-life-saving-care-at-great-risk-and-cost) [1] .
Our alliance is a group of people who finally have had enough. Right now we are aiming to have things come together this January with a new website, national ads, and enough clout to get done what needs to be done.
We are asking for volunteers to sort complaints from those dealing with kidney disease, complaints about those who should be helping. CONTACT US (http://www.dialysisethics2.org/index.php/Contact-Us/Contacts/) .

The name of the alliance is "Dialysis Healthcare Rights Alliance", an organization of people coming together for a common cause - to help those dealing with kidney disease. To start there is now an 800 number:
1-800-847-8842
-
And also a fax number: 1-877-633-5638

This is an excellent move Chris and I hope more Americans see this!

We are all pretty excited about this! Contact Us (http://www.dialysisethics2.org/index.php/Contact-Us/Contacts/)

A group of us had our first official meeting this past week - I thought it went very well.
-
Not only had one meeting this week, but two! The meeting for the Healthcare Alliance was nice, and things look like they are coming along. Also met with some local friends and came up with some ideas about who we ought to make aware of what is going on and how they could help. Things seem to be getting clearer about what to do - will post as we proceed.
-
I hear the new website is coming along!
-
When will we be able to see it?
-
Don't have a definite date yet.
-
After further consideration we have decided to change the name to Dialysis Healthcare Rights Alliance (DHRA)

Things have slowed down Alliance-wise. There is a report a Coordinator of the Alliance has been lost at sea - and happy about it from what I'm hearing! (Ah, he knows he has it good when he gets home!)
