CNBC,

Last year I sent in a question for Becky Quick, Warren Buffett, and Charlie Munger (R.I.P. - eventually).  As far as I can tell it went unanswered?  And so far I haven't seen CNBC asking for questions for this year's event, so I'll try to get a jump on things with the email addresses I do have.  I wouldn't want you to miss what so many have been dealing with.

What is the question?  Here we go:
"There are a lot of reasons DaVita should be broken up (the numbers, scandals), are there any reasons left indicating DaVita, the huge monopolistic dialysis company, SHOULDN'T be broken up into something like small care co-ops?".  (just asking)

Since last year's event there have been some developments I ought to make you aware of.  The first, and one that really grabbed me, was a JAMA (Journal of American Medical Association) stat that involves children, I'll let you take a look.  Those historical and current child mortality stats can't be emphasized enough!  I did link to the stats in the red highlighted link above and I will quote the webpage linked to:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Kidney Dialysis Children's Latest Mortality Stats:
September 5, 2023 JAMA Network article
In this cohort study of 15,359 pediatric patients receiving dialysis, risk of death for those treated in profit facilities was 2-fold higher than in nonprofit facilities"

Another major development was the release of NYT's best-selling author Tom Mueller's book 'How To Make A Killing' in August of last year.  I've watched the goings-on in kidney dialysis for over twenty years (more on legislative work and daughter).  I'll say Tom Mueller's book is spot-on, down to the termination of patients.  I wish it wasn't so, but after watching this field of medicine for such a long time I have to say he has nailed it.  He better have nailed it, because the people he is exposing can make mincemeat out of him if they find an opening - I think they are going to have a tough time though.  His history of how we got to where we are - and where we are at, are all appalling!  But all insightful on how to not run an area of medicine!

The other major development was a one-two punch delivered in DC by author Tom Mueller, the labor union SEIU, and the DC organization M.I. Mother's Keeper with a January 31st Press Conference and a February 29th 'Rally To Congress' (I attended the Rally).  What went on and what we are asking for, are summarized on this webpage.

Kidney Dialysis maybe the poster child for why 'private equity roll-up' and monopolistic practices don't work in medicine!!
