Senator Bennet,
I've been a kidney dialysis advocate for over twenty years[1] and couldn't resist writing a bit of a snarky start - it keeps me from saying what I really want to say. So what billionaires am I concerned about? Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger, both are in their 90's (Mr. Munger will be 100 soon). At their age, I'm starting to worry about what is waiting for them in the hereafter. As I wrote in a blog[2] at the DialysisEthics2.org site, I worry their habit of not checking under the hood when they buy something may come back to haunt them[3][4][5].
I've already written Rep. Jason Crow about this. I figured you have a whole state to worry about and maybe my voice would be a little louder with Rep. Crow. Also there is a bit of a kinship with Rep. Crow. We are both ground-pounder vets. He was an Army Ranger and I was in the Army Security Agency back in the '70s. Rep. Crow seems ideal for starting a scouting mission for us - and I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you decided to add your two cents! I'll add I used one online message I sent him in another blog[6].
For now, I'm just trying to get the following question answered:
"There are a lot of reasons DaVita - the huge kidney dialysis company with it's HQ in Denver - should be broken up (the numbers[3], scandals[4]), are there any reasons left indicating DaVita SHOULDN'T be broken up into something like small care co-ops[7]?" (It looks like Mr. Munger and Mr. Buffett own 40% of DaVita)
With author Tom Mueller's book coming out August 1st (which I was interviewed for)[8], I wouldn't be surprised to find out there will be more questions for our favorite teddy bear billionaires.
May we raise the spirits of Rep. Wright Patman (Texas) and Louis Brandeis (R.I.P.)[9]
Regards,
Chris Schwab

Just a Thank You, etc…
Representative Crow,
I just wanted to thank you and your office person for contacting me - it means a lot to know I'm being heard. I joked you could now have a lunch meeting with Warren Buffett to get my question answered [1] But maybe that isn't as far-fetched as it sounds at first blush? Who knows, it could be the first of many meetings with Mr. Buffett. I've got high hopes Tom Mueller's book 'How to Make a Killing: Blood, Death, and Dollars in American Medicine' coming out August 1st could lead to a federal investigation? (a book I was interviewed for by the way). Am I dreaming? We may find out! But before the book comes out, I'm trying to give you a head start. Who better to go on a scouting mission than a Army Ranger and Congressman.
Besides my most recent question, you might be able to glean more from sources I may have already mentioned. I'll list them again below[2][3][4].
Regards,

P.S. I used the previous online message I sent you in my Blog #12 as an example of what people could send their Federal reps.

Congressman Crow,
As the father of a daughter dealing with kidney disease and a kidney dialysis advocate for over twenty years I've been writing you about something that ought to be done - the big dialysis companies ought to be broken up!
Besides helping to head-up a group that got a bill for the certification of kidney dialysis techs passed in 2007 (renewed in 2012 and 2019), I did a Walk in Omaha NE on May 6th just asking Warren Buffett to do a small favor - break up the dialysis company DaVita! Buffett and his company Berkshire could do it with their pocket change as far as I can tell. Why should DaVita be broken up? This one-minute-intro ought to give you an idea (a near 50 year history in a glance):
https://www.dialysisethics2.org/open_images/flyers/berkshire.pdf
And how did the May 6th Omaha Walk go? I wrote about it here:
https://www.dialysisethics2.org/index.php/articles/9-blog/142-blog-11-save-the-billionaires-or-not-
The Walk turned out to be more of just a scouting mission but I was fine with it (I have a weird sense of fun)
And I did put together a reading list for you or anybody interested in pro-competition capitalism and next year's Walk:
